NJ STEM Month is a celebration co-hosted by the New Jersey STEM Pathways Network and Research & Development Council of New Jersey that highlights the Garden State’s incredible accomplishments in science, technology, engineering, math and innovation.

With the support of Governor Murphy’s administration and Assemblyman Andrew Zwicker’s office, NJ STEM Week expanded to include the entire month of March in 2018. March is now New Jersey STEM Month as designated by the New Jersey State Legislature and gubernatorial proclamation.

ALL organizations in the state are called to showcase and celebrate excellent work in STEM for NJ STEM Month by hosting/attending events and engaging on social media.

#NJSTEMTogether Communities Challenge

The #NJSTEMTogether Communities Challenge Final Presentation took place on March 25, 2021. High school teams were asked to use design thinking and identify a problem in their communities that is COVID-19 related and develop a solution for it. Student teams were given the opportunity to reach out to their local elected officials (state assembly and senators) to share these problems and their ideas. Over the course of the program, students were exposed to mentors from companies like Siemens, J&J, BASF, as well as guest speakers from Siemens and the American Association for the Advancement of Science


Recipe for Success

For NJ STEM Month, Puratos US has launched Recipe4Success – its official educational outreach and career mentorship program. Each week, high school students will join virtual breakout sessions with Puratos employees from both STEM and non-STEM backgrounds, learning about their unique job functions, the food industry, and the science of food! This program will highlight food industry professionals from research & development, engineering, operations, quality control/assurance, culinary arts, marketing, sales, and human resources.

STEM Coursework & Awareness

The STEM team at Atlantic City High School is planning coursework to attract students who have an interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. These new classes and programs will create exciting opportunities for students to learn about how we explore our oceans using robotics, how computers and cyber-technology protects us from hackers, and other STEM related activities. Students will expand their knowledge in a fun hands-on environment. These exciting new developments in our coursework will also make students aware of the potential for college study, strengthen their worldview, and hopefully open pathways for future careers. 


Introducing Invention Education & Engineer for the week Programs

Introducing Invention Education for elementary school students and guiding them through the process of design and building a prototype, tying the literacy element of reading a book based on Inventions. For middle school students , they will participate in an activity – “Engineer for a week” (Facebook’s initiative) where the students will build a chatbots for change.


STEAM & Design Lab

Projects at the Boys and Girls Club of Atlantic City’s STEAM Lab, including Sphero coding challenges, Apple Swift Playground challenges, Show ‘N’ Code Lego Boost and LegoMindstorm, and share STEM Month stories through iMovie. It will also include Design Lab programs such as help students in understanding and creating symbols, type and monograms, and creating personal brand identities using Adobe Creative Cloud.


Virtual Tour

Tours of the Ideal Institute of Technology facility in Atlantic City to learn about E-sports. Anyone is welcome to Learn, Play, Explore the Ultimate Virtual Reality Classroom. It is a month long "first look" private tour of state-of-the-art Esports VR Lab in Atlantic City.


STEAM Programs

ACHA proposes to introduce different STE(A)M programs in partnership to its residents at Stanley Homes and Scattered Sites. This program will be for 3 groups of learners – Young students & their family (ages 6 – 11), Older students (ages 12 – 17) and Adult learners (ages 18+). The programs are aimed at introducing students with basic and emerging trends in the field of STEAM education and workshops for adults to educate on different career opportunities in STEAM fields.
